Ever since I started this blog May 24, I’ve struggled with the title I chose: “God, grammar and good eats.” Underneath it was “a few of my favorite things.” It bothered me. A lot. Mostly because I had pretty much fallen prey to one of my biggest annoyances.
It’s the people who, on their Facebook profiles (for example), put “Jesus” or “God” as their number one interest. Now, that’s OK if there aren’t any other interests listed. But placing God in a laundry list of things you like kind of reveals your attitude toward God. I think if I had come up with another subtitle, it would have worked. But nothing I could think of made a difference, so I just changed the title altogether.
And I think it works. I want my life to be characterized by grace, and I want everything I read here to reveal that. But in that, I also want to do all things for the glory of God, which means sometimes I have to confront the sin in my life, and sometimes I have to say things other people don’t agree with.
I also like the subtitle because it makes clear what I really believe: that even the more mundane things of life, like correcting grammatical errors and eating, can be done for the glory of God.
